Writer Ruth Prawer Jhabvala, who won Oscars for her screenplays for "A Room With A View" and "Howards End," has died. She was 85.
The German-born novelist had a pulmonary disorder and died at her home in New York.
Jhabvala, who spent much of her life in India, formed a successful 40-year partnership with producer Ismail Merchant and director James Ivory.
She won the 1975 Booker Prize for her novel Heat and Dust.
