50 Cent found himself on the hot seat on Monday, after posting diminishing comments about a woman accusing singer Trey Songz of assault.
Attorney Lisa Bloom, who’s representing Songz accuser Andrea Buera, tore into the “Get Rich or Die Tryin’” rapper for posts published to his Instagram account on Sunday.
“50Cent’s hate-filled Instagram posts to his 17 millions followers, shaming Andrea for her past as a dancer, are the reason why so many women are afraid to come forward against powerful men,” Bloom wrote in a series of tweets on the topic Monday. “But they are messing with the wrong women this time. I got you, Andrea.”
“I hope everyone working with 50Cent considers that he has now taken the side of an accused batterer during an open felony case, slut shaming the victim,” Bloom added. “Actions have consequences.”
On Sunday, 50 Cent posted on Instagram accusing Buera of making a “money play” in her claims against Songz.
“This stripper joint Andrea got Lisa bloom talking bout Trey hit her, everybody know he ain’t hit her this a money play smh anything to get the Bag,” the rapper wrote, adding, “#thesehoescrazy.”
In a subsequent post bearing a screen shot of an article about Buera’s accusations, 50 Cent wrote, “what the f— is going on man, smh LOL. They dead serious about getting this bag,” punctuating his sentiment with an image of a money bag.
Songz was arrested on a felony domestic violence charge last week. after turning himself in to police, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department told TheWrap.
The LAPD spokesman said that the arrest stemmed from an alleged Feb. 18 incident at a party in Los Angeles. During the alleged incident, which occurred at approximately 2:40 a.m., Songz is accused of getting into an altercation with and striking the victim.
While police did not identify the alleged victim, during a press conference the previous week, Buera elaborated on her allegation that Songz assaulted her during NBA All-Star weekend.
“I was attending an afterparty when Trey began yelling at me, choking at me … and ultimately knocked me to the ground,” Buera said. “While I was on the ground, he continued punching me and did not stop until his security guard pulled him off me.”
“Delighted that Trey Songz has been arrested for felony domestic assault against my client Andrea Buera,” Bloom wrote following news of Songz’ arrest. “Andrea is ready, willing, and able to testify at trial. We urge any witnesses to contact LA police. Don’t be a bystander to domestic violence.”
Songz maintained his innocence via Twitter last week, writing that he is “being lied on.”
“For weeks my lawyers & Mgmt have asked me not to comment on this and I initially agreed but this morning I feel that my fam, the women that raised me, my friends & fans especially the youth need to hear from me,” Songz tweeted. “I am being lied on and falsely accused for someone’s personal gain.”
