Season 1 of “13 Reasons Why” may have ended last year, but the story at the center of the show is truly just beginning to unfold — and we’re not just talking about what happened to Hannah (Katherine Langford).
On Tuesday, Netflix dropped the first official trailer for the second season of its teen drama and now we have more questions than answers, thanks to a set of mysterious Polaroids that are popping up all over the place.
“It felt like this whole thing was going to be over, but it’s not,” Clay (Dylan Minnette) says in the clip, before finding one of the instant photos that have the words “Hannah wasn’t the only one” written on the back. And though it doesn’t seem like Clay knows what that message means yet, he’s going to figure it out.
If this new trailer, the teaser and first photos of the new season are any indication, the Polaroids are going to have something to do with the trial Hannah’s family is about to head into after her death at the end of Season 1, and the stories that didn’t get tied up by the end of the first year.
Here’s some other breadcrumbs the trailer dropped that fans can snack on while they wait for the new episodes to arrive: Hannah appearing to talk to Clay (possibly as a ghost and possible in his imagination); Jessica finding a classroom filled with photos of herself covered in the words, “Who would believe a drunk slut?”; Tony setting a letter aflame; Tyler getting beaten up; someone inscribing “rapist” on Bryce’s locker.
