Forget the Oscar-winning acting and writing, or the nominated directing, editing and production design.
Rush Limbaugh thinks “12 Years a Slave” won Best Picture at the Academy Awards on Sunday because of one “magic word” in the title.
“If it was the only thing that movie won, it was gonna win Best Picture,” the conservative radio host said on-air Monday. “There was no way. It didn’t matter if it was good or bad. I haven’t seen it. It was going to win. It had the magic word in the title. ‘Slave.’”

So how can Limbaugh offer up this kind of opinion (or, you know, a fact in his mind) without seeing the film first? Easy — He watched the Oscars telecast, and host Ellen DeGeneres gave him all of the information he needed to put this puzzle together.
“Anything can happen. So many different possibilities. Possibility number one, ’12 Years a Slave’ wins Best Picture. Possibility number two, you’re all racists,” DeGeneres joked during her opening monologue.

“All good comedy must be rooted in truth,” Limbaugh said.
Conversely, Limbaugh’s “truth” usually makes for good comedy.
