Disorder and violence seem to have taken over in the season 2 trailer for “Westworld,” which was released Saturday during HBO’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con.
Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood) is seen riding through a field alongside Teddy (James Marsden), wielding a shotgun and shooting people down as they try to escape.
The trailer hints at more bloodshed stemming from the hands of Westworld’s robots, with the futuristic playground’s headquarters filled with lifeless bodies, as well as violence in one of the makeshift city’s saloons.
Westworld execs — including Head Programmer Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) — are seen racing through the desert to stop the chaos. The trailer ends with the “Man in Black” (Ed Harris) throwing on his trademark cowboy hat and slightly grinning through his cut-up and bloody face.
The show is set to return in 2018, although no set release date is nailed down.
The first season of the HBO series was met with widespread acclaim, boasting an 89 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes to go along with a nine out of 10 score on IMDB.
“Westworld” was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy and counts “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” director JJ Abrams among its executive producers.
