“Morning Joe” namesake Joe Scarborough released an album of original music on Friday, but fans of the MSNBC morning show want to know about the love song he wrote for co-host Mika Brzezinski, who also happens to be his fiancée.
“I’ve never really written personal love songs, I just never did… I wrote it, and I called Mika and said, ‘Hey, we’re going to play tonight… it would be great if you could come out,’” Scarborough said on MSNBC Friday morning.
Brzezinski initially didn’t want to go to the show the night Scarborough planned to unveil his first love song, so he had to come clean and called her back.
“OK, Mika, here’s the deal, I wrote a song for you,” Scarborough said.
Scarborough said the self-deprecating love song worked because Brzezinski forgave him for whatever she was upset about at the time. Scarborough’s album “Mystified” has five tracks and the MSNBC host plans to release a ton of music in the near future. He said he has 200 songs written that he will release over the next few years.
“It’s the most important thing in my life. Outside of my kids and my family, music has always been… my songs are the most important things in my life,” Scarborough said.
He considers himself a songwriter who learned to sing and play instruments so he could join a band.
“This is the core of who I am,” Scarborough said.
