Luke Cage is back, and he’s putting his super powers to good work — on the football field.
In a new promo clip — just in time for NFL Draft Day — for “Marvel’s Luke Cage” Season 2, former “Sports Center” hosts Jemele Hill and Michael Smith watch as Luke (Mike Colter) breaks record after record while working out with New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles at the NFL combine.
As Luke casually tosses a 400-pound tire across the football field, Smith is impressed.
“That thing weighs 400 pounds. I’m sorry, 400! 400 pounds!” he exclaims to Hill. After Luke easily clears 24 feet in the long jump, Smith is again impressed. Hill is less so, and says, “Eh, that’s only 11 feet longer than the world record in long jump.” The superhero also ran a 3.72 in the 40-meter dash… making him faster than Usain Bolt.
“Human beings shouldn’t be able to do that,” Hill says.
Season 2 will find Luke struggling with a new level of fame and facing off against a new villain.
The street-hero series is executive produced by Cheo Hodari Coker, Jim Chory and Jeph Loeb. Lucy Liu directed the premiere. Simone Missick, Alfre Woodard, Theo Rossi and Rosario Dawson also star.
