Racer Scott Dixon went airborne during Sunday’s Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a scary crash that obliterated his car.
The chain-reaction crash began just over the 50-lap mark when Jay Howard hit the outside wall in a turn. He slowly slid down the track in front of Dixon, who clipped its back-end and sent his own car flying over Helio Castroneves. Dixon’s racing Honda did somersaults mid-air before crashing cockpit-first into the fence.
His car was destroyed. Dixon and Howard were both checked out on the scene and released.
