‘The View’ Hits 9-Month Weekly Ratings High

ABC gab-fest averaged a 1.2 rating among women 25-54 last week

Sharon Osbourne might not hold the ladies of “The View” in particularly high regard, but the daytime TV-viewing public apparently likes them alright.

ABC’s daytime gab-fest “The View” posted a nine-month weekly high in the women 25-54 demo, and an eight-month high in the women 18-49 demo last week.

In women 25-54, “The View” posted a 1.2 rating, with a 0.9 rating in the women 18-49 demo.

Last Thursday’s episode, which featured guest star Mario Cantone and the show’s Hot Topic Halloween, did particularly well, scoring a 1.4 in the women 25-54 demographic and a 1.1 among women 18-49.

In total viewers, “The View” averaged 2.97 million for the week — a 3 percent uptick over the previous week.

Meanwhile, CBS’s own entry into the daytime talk arena, “The Talk,” performed well last week, averaging a 1.1 among women 25-54 and a 0.7 in the women 18-49 demo.

“The Talk” — which is co-hosted by Sharon Osbourne, who trash-talked most of “The View” hosts this week — averaged 2.75 million for the week, only slightly off from the series high of 2.8 million that the show averaged for its season premiere week this year.

Again, Halloween proved to be beneficial, with last Thursday’s episode was the show’s most-watched episode on record, with 3.02 million.

The network’s long-running soap opera “General Hospital” also enjoyed a strong week last week, hitting its best numbers in the women 25-54 demo since March 2011 with a 1.6 rating, and its highest total viewership —  2.91 million — since the week of Jan. 21.
