‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Steven R. McQueen Really Wants to Play a Superhero, Talks Nightwing Role (Video)

“I can’t make any promises that I’m not going to run with it,” McQueen told TheWrap

“The Vampire Diaries” star Steven R. McQueen stopped by TheWrap recently to talk “The Vampire Diaries,” his rumored involvement with another CW show and his excitement for Comic Con.

McQueen joked that his TVD character Jeremy made it through “another week on Survivor Island” in the shocking season finale, but the fate of Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is still in question. And the cast is just as anxious as the fans are to know what will happen on season 6.

“We’re all kind of on the edge of our seats,” McQueen said. He admitted that he enjoyed filming the fight scenes for Season 5, so he hopes to see Jeremy embrace his role as a hunter on the new season, which begins filming on July 7.

McQueen also addressed speculation surrounding him playing Nightwing on the CW’s “Arrow.”

“It’s a great story that hasn’t really been told,” McQueen said of the character.

Reports of McQueen coveting the role started to spread last November when a number of his tweets, including one to “Arrow” executive producer Greg Berlanti, suggested involvement with the show.

He revealed that he is a fan of the character, and comic books in general, but tells TVD fans not to worry, because he has not been offered the role… yet. But, what if he did get an offer to do the role?

“You know, if I get a chance to play a superhero, I can’t make any promises that I’m not going to run with it,” McQueen said.
