“True Detective,” “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife,” “House of Cards” and “Mad Men” are among the shows nominated by the Writers Guild of America for the best-written drama series of 2014, the WGA announced on Thursday.

In the comedy series category, nominees included “Louie,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Veep,” “Silicon Valley” and “Transparent.”

While “Modern Family” did not receive a nomination for the series, it was the only comedy series to land two nominations in the Episodic Comedy category, in which individual episodes are nominated rather than full seasons.

“Boardwalk Empire” received two nominations in the Episodic Drama category. Shows that were nominated for specific episodes but not for the overall series were “Rectify” in drama and “New Girl” in comedy.

In the separate New Series category, nominees were “The Affair,” “The Knick,” “Silicon Valley,” “Transparent” and “True Detective.”

Because it was nominated in the in the Comedy Series, New Series and Episodic Comedy categories, “Transparent” led all primetime shows with three nominations. “Game of Thrones,” “The Good Wife,” “Mad Men,” “True Detective,” “Boardwalk Empire,” “Louie,” “Orange is the New Black,” “Silicon Valley” and “Modern Family” all received two.

“The Simpsons,” though, picked up four of the six nominations in the animation category. “Bob’s Burgers” had the other two.
