Trey Songz was arrested in Detroit Wednesday night for an onstage outburst following his performance at “The Big Show at The Joe” concert, according to the Detroit News.
The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, was arrested for malicious destruction of property and resisting and obstructing arrest, Officer Dan Donakowski, a spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department, told the newspaper.
Songz’ reps did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
Mr. “Steal Your Girl” was performing his set during the multi-artist concert when at around 11:30 p.m. ET, the artist was told his time was up.
According to video footage that was taken by fans at the concert, Trey Songz said that he would go “crazy” if anyone cut his mic off.
“They said they’re going to cut my mic off because I’m taking too much time,” said Songz. “If they cut me off remember to text whoever you want to and tweet whoever you want to and tell everybody about it because if a n—– cut me off I’m going the f— crazy.”
He then began mocking venue staffers to cut off his mic and turned the riff into an impromptu song.
Well, it looks like Neverson kept his promise because once his microphone and lights got turned off, the singer began throwing objects and breaking stage equipment.
Big Show at The Joe is a multi-artist concert organized by FM 98 WJLB, Detroit’s hip-hop and R&B station, and Channel 955.
The concert also featured Chris Brown, Desiigner, Lil Yachty, Young M.A., Icewear Vezzo, Neisha Neshae, Zay Hilfiger and Zayion McCall.
