Tim McGraw Was Trying to Save His Jeans, Not Slap a Fan at His Concert

Grainy video footage makes it unclear exactly what happened between McGraw and a fan, leading to speculation that he slapped her over inappropriate contact

A grainy video from Tim McGraw performing in concert has gone viral. The singer can be seen walking on a raised platform with the crowd reaching in around him. At one point, he clearly has a physical interaction of some sort with one fan, but the singer insists it wasn’t a slap, as some have speculated.

The video quickly went viral, with TMZ going so far as to title the video “Tim McGraw — B—h Slaps Female Fan During Concert.” McGraw’s representatives responded quickly, telling E! News that he didn’t slap anyone.

“At the end of the night during the encore, Tim was singing out in the audience and someone firmly grabbed onto his leg and wouldn’t let go as he was moving through the crowd,” the rep said.

“He instinctively swatted to try and keep them from ripping his jeans (which they succeeded at doing!), and so he could get to more fans who were trying to slap hands with him before the end of the show,” the rep added. “He didn’t know who had grabbed him and was simply trying to keep his jeans from being torn.”

Toward the end of the video, the woman can be seen reaching toward McGraw and appears to touch him on the leg. Immediately afterward, he squats down in front of her for a moment. When she appears to make a second reach toward him a moment later, the act under scrutiny occurs.
