‘The Returned’ Star Rhys Ward Lands a Lead Role in Indie Movie ‘The Happys’ (Exclusive)

“The Returned” star Rhys Ward has landed a lead role in the indie movie “The Happys,” which was written and will be directed by Tom Gould and John Serpe, TheWrap has learned.

The story follows a 21-year-old girl named Tracy who decides to leave her boyfriend after she catches him having sex with a man. After assessing her limited options, she returns to Mark with a deal — if he agrees to marry her, she’ll forget the incident ever happened. Mark accepts her terms, but neither fully understands the sacrifices they’ll have to make. As their relationship deteriorates, Tracy’s world opens up as she befriends the quirky residents in her Los Feliz, California, neighborhood.

Those residents include troubled recluse Sebastian, former child star Luann, gay magazine reporter Jonathan, handsome food truck worker Ricky and Mark’s hard-charging talent manager, Krista.

As Tracy discovers her sense of self as well as a passion for cooking, she becomes a catalyst for change who helps them all grow and connect in unforeseen ways.

Ward will play Sebastian, who hides from society after being bitten by a poisonous spider. He rents one of Luann’s properties, which is how he crosses paths with Tracy.

Ward is a Canadian actor who was a regular on the A&E series “The Returned” and recurs on the CW’s “iZombie.” He recently wrapped the indie movie “Swipe,” which was directed by Matthew Leutwyler, who executive produced James Gunn’s “Super.”

Ward is represented by Innovative Artists, Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management and Canadian agent Doug Patterson.
