Stephen Hawking Joins Facebook as ‘Theory of Everything’ Heads Into Oscars Race

Facebook just got infinitely more intelligent.

World-renowned theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking has joined the social network to share something a little more important than selfies and BuzzFeed listacles.

“Our connections to one another have grown infinitely and now that I have the chance, I’m eager to share this journey with you,” Hawking wrote. “Be curious, I know I will forever be.”

The scholar’s leap into online space comes just weeks before “The Theory of Everything” — an acclaimed drama about Hawking’s impressive life and romance with ex-wife Jane — hits theaters on Nov. 7.

It remains to be seen if Hawking will help promote the theatrical version of his life story on his feed, but it’s hard to imagine the timing of his decision to get social and the movie’s release date wasn’t a coincidence.
