Stephen Colbert stopped in at his old job, Jon Stewart‘s “Daily Show,” to break the news that he’s leaving Comedy Central.
“Jon, this is going to come as something of a shock to you,” Colbert said, after urging his old boss to sit down — and then to “sit down more.”

“You’re ending your show,” Stewart said.
“Jon, please,” Colbert said, adding: “I’m ending my show.”
Colbert explained that there is “no mountain left for me to climb. It’s become clear to me that I have won television.”

Stewart pointed out that it wasn’t a contest.
“Not anymore, Jon,” Colbert replied. “Almost nine years ago, I promised to change the world. And together — I did it.”
His new plans include riding the rails, making stew from peanuts and stolen chicken.
Or just hosting “The Late Show” on CBS.
Before he left, Colbert graciously played a highlight reel of his own best moments on “The Daily Show.”
