Focus Features announced on Monday that it will release Spike Lee’s next film, “BlackKkKlansman,” on Aug. 10.
The film stars John David Washington as real-life Colorado Springs detective Ron Stallworth, the first African-American police officer who went undercover to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan. Adam Driver also stars as Stallworth’s partner, Flip Zimmerman, along with Laura Harrier and Topher Grace. The film’s release date coincides on the same weekend as the one-year anniversary of the white supremacist riots in Charlottesville.
“Get Out” director Jordan Peele is producing the film through his Monkeypaw production banner, as is that film’s producer Jason Blum via Blumhouse.
