Sound Editors Nominate ‘Avatar,’ ‘Star Trek,’ Others

Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel nominations honor 32 different films

And the nominations just keep on coming.

Friday morning it was the Golden Reel Awards, the honors bestowed annually by the Motion Picture Sound Editors.  With six different feature film categories and no de facto Best Picture award, the MPSE singled out 32 separate films for nominations.  The only films with more than one nomination were "Avatar" and "Star Trek," which received three each, and "An Education," "2012," "(500) Days of Summer," "Inglourious Basterds" and "The Hurt Locker," which received two.

The Golden Reel ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 20 at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.  Steven Spielberg will receive the 2010 MPSE Filmmaker award, while Larry Singer will be given the MPSE Career Achievement award.
