Simone Biles went out with a(nother) gold, sticking NBC with mostly steady Nielsen numbers from the previous night’s primetime.
ABC again finished runner-up in key demo ratings among the broadcasters, though that was still behind Rio by a massive margin. CBS was a distant second in total viewers.
NBC was first in ratings Tuesday with a 6.8 rating/24 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 23.8 million, according to preliminary numbers. On Monday night, the network had a slightly better 6.9/24 and 23.9 million total viewers.
ABC was second in ratings with a 0.8/3 and third in viewers with 2.8 million. “Bachelor in Paradise” at 8 p.m. ET posted a 1.3/5 and 4.3 million viewers. At 9, “After Paradise” got a 0.6/2 and 2.6 million viewers. Reruns followed.
CBS was third in ratings with a 0.7/2 and second in viewers with 4.8 million. Sandwiched between repeats, “Zoo” at 9 p.m. ET had a 0.7/2 and 4.1 million viewers.
Univision and Telemundo tied for fourth in ratings, both with a 0.6/2. Univision was fourth in total viewers with 1.62 million, Telemundo was fifth with 1.58 million.
Fox was sixth in ratings with a 0.4/1 and in viewers with 1.2 million, airing just reruns.
The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3/1 and in viewers with 777,000. After a repeat, “MADtv” received a 0.3/1 and 640,000 viewers.
