“Sense8” fans are anything but chill about Netflix right now.
Fans of the series, which was canceled this month, lashed out on Netflix’s Facebook page on Thursday, after the streaming service said that, after thinking “long and hard,” it couldn’t find a way to bring the show back.
“To our Sense8 family…
We’ve seen the petitions.
We’ve read the messages.
We know you want to #RenewSense8,
and we wish we could #BringBackSense8 for you,” a message posted on Netflix’s Facebook account read Thursday. “The reason we’ve taken so long to get back to you is because we’ve thought long and hard here at Netflix to try to make it work but unfortunately we can’t.Thank you for watching and hope you’ll stay close with your cluster around the world.”
The social-media olive branch was swiftly swatted away by fans of the show, who lashed out in the comments section of the post.
“So. 13 Reasons gets a season 2 when the story is done and wrapped up…but Sense8, WHICH ENDS ON A CLIFFHANGER, doesn’t at least get the dignity of a two hour movie special at least? Man, screw you guys,” fumed one angry fan.
“So much garbage stuff on Netflix nobody would even miss and the one show that has created a movement in their fanbase such as #renewsense8 it’s just canceled?” seethed another. “What happened to listening to the customer? The excuse for not renewing it [is] crap and so is canceling this show.”
“Like you guys said, you have seen the petitions, you have read the messages, but obviously haven’t been listening,” yet another unsatisfied customer wrote. “All your fans want is a wrap up movie or episode. Even if it’s done on a budget. The amount of money this company brings in can afford it. How on earth can you do this to the fans and the people who pay to keep this company going. This is BS!”
“I call BS!! Yall didnt try any damn thing. Yall had this made up since yall canceled. Shouldnt have gave us an amazing s2 to leave us like that. Its messed up really,” read yet another response.
The cancellation of the series after two years caused a similar reaction when it was announced on June 1, particularly given that the LGBT-friendly show received the ax on the first day of Pride month.
“They literally cancelled sense8 the gayest show on television on the first day of pride month this is the definition of homophobia,” one outraged response read at the time.
“Ooo @netflix is cold, canceling @sense8 the 1st day of #pridemonth,” another response read.
