The Chicago offices of comedy troupe The Second City were destroyed in a three-alarm fire that also resulted in the injury of two firefighters, CLTV reports.
The fire broke out in the building next door to the offices, in the kitchen of the Adobo Grill, and spread through the vent to the roof.
The Second City offices are “pretty much shot,” Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said.
The Second City announced via Twitter that Wednesday night’s shows at the Second City/UP Comedy Club had been canceled.
According to Langford, the firefighters are in stable conditions and their injuries aren’t serious.
The group also posted a fire of the blaze and noted, “Yes, there’s a fire. And we’re working on it.”
Over the years, the troupe’s members have included Alan Alda, Dan Aykroyd, Amy Poehler, Gilda Radner, Tim Meadows and many others.
ALL Second City/UP Comedy Club shows tonight are cancelled. If you had tickets for this evening, a member of our box office will contact you
