Ryan Phillippe Accused of Beating His Ex-Girlfriend, Abusing Drugs in New Lawsuit

Actor accused of throwing Elsie Hewitt down his stairs twice

Ryan Phillippe’s ex-girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt, has filed a lawsuit against the “Shooter” actor of beating her.

The suit also accuses Phillippe of abusing alcohol and “a panoply of legal and illegal drugs, including without limitation cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms and steroids.”

According to the suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday, Hewitt arrived at Phillippe’s residence on July 4 to pick up some of her belongings, and was met by a “discernably drunk and high” Phillippe. The actor became “increasingly agitated and hostile,” according to the lawsuit, grabbing Hewitt’s arm so tightly that he left bruises and “violently” throwing her down the staircase as hard as he could.

“Phillippe repeatedly grabbed Hewitt, struck her, cornered her, kicked her, and aggressively pushed her to the ground,” the lawsuit states.

According to the suit, Phillippe also “picked Hewitt up like a doll” and threw her down the stairs a second time.”

In a statement provided to TheWrap, Phillippe’s spokeswoman said that the actor is “completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated.

“As a staunch advocate for the health, well-being and equality of women, Ryan is completely devastated that these false allegations have been made and circulated,” the statement reads. “Domestic violence is an incredibly serious issue and fabricated and proven false claims should not be used to unjustly slander the falsely accused. The claims are false.”

Alleging assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the suit seeks damages “no less than $1 million.”
