Rosie O’Donnell is back on board at “The View.”
O’Donnell is returning to the ABC daytime talk show, following the announcements that Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy are departing the series, TMZ reports.
O’Donnell initially joined “The View” in 2006, gaining a reputation with her outspoken manner and liberal views. She left the following year.

The ABC talk show has found itself in a state of upheaval in recent months. In addition to the imminent departures of Shepherd and McCarthy — the latter of whom only joined the show last year — longtime “View” host Barbara Walters retired earlier this year, creating another vacant chair to fill.
As previously reported by TheWrap, Shepherd decided to exit “The View” after declining ABC’s final offer in her contract negotiations, while the network chose not to pursue another season with McCarthy.
Both McCarthy and Shepherd are expected to remain with the series until their contracts expire in August. “The View” is scheduled to return for another season in August as well.
ABC declined to confirm O’Donnell’s return to “The View” when reached by TheWrap, saying that any announcement pertaining to the show is still weeks away. The network did say that the show “will be moving in an exciting new direction next season.”
A spokeswoman for O’Donnell has not yet responded to TheWrap’s request for comment.
UPDATE: ABC confirmed on Thursday that Rosie O’Donnell is officially returning as a co-host on “The View.”
