TV One host Roland Martin just went bananas on Bill O’Reilly over the Fox News Channel host’s criticism of Colin Kaepernick’s now-infamous national anthem protest.
Count O’Reilly among those offended by the San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback’s decision to kneel during the “Star-Spangled Banner” played before his NFL games. But Bill’s got a solution: O’Reilly vowed to send Kaepernick a copy of his new book, “Killing the Rising Sun,” an apparent attempt at education.
“I don’t not respect Colin Kaepernick’s actions — I think he is wrong in the extreme,” O’Reilly said on his primetime program. “And I think his frame of reference about his own country is scant: S-C-A-N-T.”
“And I think that is stupid: S-T-U-P-I-D,” Martin responded on his own show. School was officially in session.
Martin offered up a strong seven-plus-minute rant about some things O’Reilly might want to fact-check. He also mocked O’Reilly’s offer to provide some reading material.
Martin’s got a laundry list of very different books for O’Reilly to check out from his local library, “IF you can read,” he quipped.
“If you want somebody to read your book, why don’t you actually read what it’s like to be a real patriot?” Martin concluded. “So, Colin Kaepernick, if he sends you his book, throw it in the trash. And then send him an Amazon gift card to go buy some other books where he can learn what it’s like to be black in America.”
