Just 10 months after Sylvester Stallone got a standing ovation at the 2016 Golden Globes for his win for “Creed,” the actor-producer’s three daughters with wife Jennifer Flavin have been selected to be Miss Golden Globe 2017.
Sisters Sophia, 20, Sistine, 18, and Scarlet, 14, will present trophies and hype the Jan. 8 ceremony on media tours.
This means a return to the International Ballroom at the Beverly Hilton, California, for the Stallone family and its patriarch, now 70, who is best known for creating Rocky Balboa.
Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, made the announcement at a roll-out event at Catch L.A. on Thursday night, the hottest hotspot of the moment in West Hollywood.
A party with prospective Globe nominees from TV, film and other celebrity friends of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association followed at the rooftop spot that has had a perennial pool of paparazzi camped out in front on Melrose Ave. seven nights a week since it opened on Emmys weekend.
Sophia, the eldest, got a significant boost in her public profile earlier this year when dad Sly accompanied her to Coachella, posting video of them together during Guns N’ Roses set.
“She was my bodyguard,” he posted to Instagram at the time.
All three daughters were a fixture by their father’s side during last year’s awards season campaigning for “Creed,” including family appearances at the Globes and Oscars, which in hindsight were perfect backdoor auditions for this position.
In the days leading up to the Jan. 8 telecast, the women will likely make several media tours to promote the show, lunch with social media stars, and document their journey on Instagram. As of the morning of their announcement, Sophia had 262,000 Instagram followers, model Sistine boasts 255,000, and Scarlet has frequently been featured on her father’s feed (which has 2 million followers).
The Stallone sisters follow in the footsteps of recent Miss Golden Globes like Corinne Foxx (Jamie Foxx’s daughter), Greer Grammer (Kelsey Grammer‘s daughter), Sosie Bacon (the offspring of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick) and Francesca Eastwood. Before starring in “Fifty Shades of Grey,” Dakota Johnson was Miss Golden Globe 2006. In the more distant past, Laura Dern and Melanie Griffith held the honor.
Jimmy Fallon hosts the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017. The show airs on NBC.
