Robert Downey Jr. Rehab Drama in the Works at Showtime

Project would be set at a Venice Beach rehab community

Robert Downey Jr. has some rehab drama on his hands — in a totally good way.

Downey — whose past struggles with substance use were the source of numerous headlines — is developing a drama project about a 1980s rehab community with Showtime and Sony Pictures Television, an individual familiar with the project told TheWrap on Tuesday.

The project hails from Team Downey, the production company of the actor and his wife Susan (pictured), along with Sony Pictures Television.

Gary Lennon (“Justified,” “Orange Is the New Black,” “Black Box”) is writing as well as executive producing, along with the Downeys and Amanda Burrell.
