We knew Taylor Swift was recently inspired by Right Said Fred, and now it has come full circle, thanks to a new mashup.
The British band, which is most famous for its 1990s pop hit “I’m Too Sexy,” recently re-entered the pop culture conversation after Swift’s single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” came out from her new album “Reputation.” Swift had sampled the song’s baseline on the track.
So in return, Right Said Fred paid tribute to the pop star with a mashup of their own.
BBC reported that Swift’s team approached the band in advance of the release. And right when the song debuted, the band tweeted, “Thank you @taylorswift13, what a marvellous reinvention!”
Three members of Right Said Fred — Richard Fairbrass, Fred Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli — are credited as songwriters on the track alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff, her longtime collaborator.
Both of the Fairbrasses appear in the video, which was posted online Wednesday. It shows the band having fun in the studio with the track. Now the song has a double layering of “I’m Too Sexy” — which may very well be too much sexy for some.
