Remy Ma is back and ready to take the world by storm in the new season of “Love & Hip Hop: New York.”
In a clip of the season six premiere of the VH1 reality series obtained by TheWrap, Remy, whose real name is Reminisce Smith, performs at New York’s Stage 48.
“Life doesn’t always give you second chances,” Smith says in the clip. “But this right here, this is mine. I’ve seen the highest of highs that life can bring…But one wrong mistake in my past and all those blessings were gone.”
Smith did over six years in prison stemming from an incident in 2007 in which she was charged with shooting a female friend outside a nightclub after Smith suspected the friend of stealing $3,000 from her.
Prior to that, Smith was a member of Fat Joe’s rap group, the Terror Squad. She is one of only four female rappers to reach the number one spot on the Billboard charts for her appearance on the Terror Squad single “Lean Back.”
Season six of “Love & Hip Hop” premieres on VH1 on Dec. 14 at 8 p.m./7c.
