“Empire” is looking more like a dynasty every week: On Wednesday night, in the Fox soap opera’s third week, it rose once again to a whopping 4.3 rating in the key demo. Coupled with lead-in “American Idol,” Fox dominated its competition.
ABC — the other Wednesday heavyweight — aired entirely reruns.
Fox was first in ratings with a 3.8 rating/12 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and first in viewers with an average of 11.2 million, according to preliminary numbers. “American Idol” at 8 p.m. earned a 3.3/11 and a night-high 11.5 million viewers. “Empire” at 9 scored a primetime-best 4.3/13 and had 10.9 million viewers.
CBS was second in ratings with a 1.6/5 and in viewers with 9.2 million. “The Mentalist” at 8 got a 1.5/5 and 9.5 million viewers. “Criminal Minds” at 9 received a 1.9/6 — a low — and 10.2 million viewers. “Stalker” at 10 had a 1.5/5 and 8 million viewers.
NBC was third in ratings with a 1.2/4 and in viewers with 6.2 million. Following a rerun, “Law & Order: SVU” at 9 got a 1.2/4 — hitting a regular low — and 6.7 million viewers. “Chicago PD” at 10 had a 1.5/5 and 7 million viewers.
Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.1/3 and fifth in viewers with 2.8 million.
ABC was fifth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and fourth in total viewers with 3.8 million, airing entirely repeats.
The CW was sixth in ratings with a 0.8/3 and in total viewers with 2.3 million. “Arrow” at 8 received a 1.1/3 and 3 million viewers. “The 100” at 9 got a 0.6/2 and 1.6 million viewers.
Telemundo was seventh in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in total viewers with 1.5 million.
