Bankroll Fresh, an up-and-coming rapper who recorded with 2 Chainz and is best known for the single “Hot Boy,” was shot and killed Friday night at an Atlanta recording studio. He was 28 years old.
The performer, born Trentavious White, was signed to 2 Chainz’ Street Execs label and was at the company’s studio when an unknown assailant fired shots.
Police responded to reports of a shooting just after 11 p.m. on Friday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which said at least three dozen shots were fired.
White, who appears to have been the only one shot in the attack, was later pronounced dead at Atlanta’s Hughes Spalding Children’s Hospital.
Authorities did not make any immediate arrests in the case, and have not yet cited a motive.
Many took to Twitter to share their horror and sadness at the death of White, who also performed under the name Yung Fresh.
“I’m in shock at the moment !! Senseless deaths we just got to stop it, I’m speaking up now,” 2Chainz (born Tauheed Epps) wrote on Twitter.
Lil Wayne noted, “we lost a good one. Rest peacefully lil homie Bankroll u gon always be family.”
