Rachel Maddow Warns: Fake Documents on Russia Meddling Are Being Shopped to Reporters (Video)

“Somebody out there is shopping carefully forged documents to try to discredit news agencies reporting on the Russian attack on our election,” Maddow says

MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow warned news organizations that someone is shopping fake documents in order to discredit reporters attempting to uncover Russia’s suspected interference on the presidential election.

Maddow said she received a document that “at first glance” appeared to be “unbelievably red hot.” She said if for some reason the document is real, it would be too sensitive and classified to even show on the air.

“People who are in a position to recognize or authenticate this kind of document, people who have worked with things at this level of classification, they typically will refuse to look at a document like this if there’s any chance it is real, that it is real classified information that has been improperly disclosed,” Maddow said.
