Peter MacNicol is departing “CSI: Cyber” and will not appear when the show returns for Season 2, TheWrap has learned.
The actor, who plays Patricia Arquette‘s supervisor on the show, is departing as the “CSI” offshoot is retooling with the addition of Ted Danson as a series regular.
Danson won’t be replacing MacNicol however, as an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap that the forces behind the show felt like Arquette’s character no longer needed an authority figure.
“Cyber” revolves around the FBI’s Cyber Crime Division and also stars James Van Der Beek, who plays battlefield forensics expert Elijah Mundo, and rapper/actor Bow Wow, who plays a hacker.
The season one finale of “CSI: Cyber” airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. ET on CBS and will mark MacNicol’s last appearance on the show.
