Tommy Shelby has got ahold of all the ropes in the Season 5 trailer for “Peaky Blinders,” so no one is capable of hanging him now, right? Well, unless he ends up hanging himself, that is. And based on the drama unfolding in the preview, it looks like that might be where things are headed in the fifth season of the BBC One drama.
In the 1-minute video, the crime-boss-turned-member-of-parliament (played by Cillian Murphy) appears to have a new level of cockiness due to his change of employment. But that confidence might be short-lived, as it looks like the person who could actually end up taking Tommy down is Tommy.
Aside from Tommy’s political woes and everyone dealing with the 1929 financial crisis, the preview introduces fans to Season 5 newcomers Sam Claflin (“The Hunger Games”) and Anya Taylor-Joy (“Glass”), and reintroduces them to old favorites, like stars Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson and Sophie Rundle.
Additional new cast members for the fifth season of “Peaky Blinders” include Brian Gleeson (“Phantom Thread”), Neil Maskell (“Kill List”), Kate Dickie (“The Witch”), Cosmo Jarvis (“Lady Macbeth”), and Emmett J. Scanlan (Guardians of the Galaxy).
No premiere date has been set for the BBC One drama’s fifth season yet, which is expected to air later this year.
