Brothers Paul Weitz and Chris Weitz have signed a new first-look TV deal with Amazon Studios through their production company, Depth of Field.
Under the two-year deal, the duo will develop new projects for the streaming platform. Paul Weitz currently serves as executive producer, showrunner and director on Amazon’s “Mozart in the Jungle,” which won two Golden Globe Awards for its debut season in January.
Paul also wrote and directed last year’s “Grandma,” starring Lily Tomlin.
Chris Weitz served as a writer on Disney’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and is attached to direct “Eichmann” for MGM.
Their company, Depth of Field, including company president Andrew Miano, is currently producing Judy Greer‘s directorial debut, “A Happening of Monumental Proportions.”
“Amazon Studios is taking creative risks and it’s an exciting place to work,” said Paul Weitz. “Working on ‘Mozart’ has been a great experience.”
“We’re excited to continue our relationship with Paul and begin working with Depth of Field,” said Joe Lewis, Amazon’s Head of Half Hour Series. “Their focus on humanist stories and their desire to make unique series of remarkable quality fits perfectly here and is a great win for customers.”
Depth of Field is repped by WME and Barnes Morris.
