Paramount Bumps ‘Monster Trucks’ to 2017, Sets ‘Spongebob Squarepants 3’ for 2019

Studio also cast Mila Kunis, John Oliver, Matthew Broderick and Jennifer Garner in animated “Amusement Park”

Paramount Animation announced its lineup through 2019 on Tuesday, including that “Monster Trucks” and “Spongebob Squarepants 3,” will be released by the studio in March of 2016 and March of 2019, respectively.

“Monster Trucks,” which had been previously scheduled for March 18, 2016, will now open January 13, 2017. Directed by Chris Wedge, who has helmed films like “Epic,” “Robots” and “Ice Age,” the cast includes Jane Levy, Lucas Till, Tom Lennon, Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Danny Glover, Holt McCallany and Frank Whaley.

“Spongebob Squarepants 3” has been slated for February 8, 2019. Like the previous movies, the follow-up film will be directed by Paul Tibbitt and will feature the voices of Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence.

“The Little Prince,” directed by Academy Award nominee Mark Osborne (“Kung Fu Panda”), will open March 18, 2016, and stars the voices of Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridge, Riley Osborne, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Paul Rudd, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks, and Bud Cort. The film is the first-ever animated feature adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s 1943 masterpiece, “The Little Prince.”

The original animated film, “Amusement Park” will now be released on March 22, 2019. Dylan Brown, who served as the supervising animator on “Ratatouille” and “Finding Nemo,” will direct. Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner, Jeffrey Tambor, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Mila Kunis, John Oliver, and Brianna Denski are set to voice characters.

The studio recently announced that Elton John‘s Rocket Pictures’ “Sherlock Gnomes” will hit theaters on January 12, 2018. John Stevenson (“Kung Fu Panda”) is directing and the film comes from the makers of the hit animated movie “Gnomeo and Juliet”. Johnny Depp will voice Sherlock Gnomes, with James McAvoy voicing Gnomeo and Emily Blunt starring as Juliet.
