After a failed attempt at romance with Piper (Taylor Schilling) in the first season, Suzanne’s need for affection reappears on Season 2 when she’s befriended by power hungry, veteran inmate Vee (Lorraine Toussaint).
“It was intense because you started to realize how desperate Suzanne is for love and what she will in fact do for it,” Aduba told TheWrap’s senior television writer Jethro Nededog.

But despite Suzanne’s close relationship with Vee, Aduba reveals that her character is more independent than most people think.
“When I think about Suzanne, I think she knows completely who she is,” Aduba said, adding that it’s the viewers and the other characters on the show that “misjudge” or “underestimate” her.
