Netflix has given a 10-episode order to a talk show from “Saturday Night Live” alum Norm Macdonald.
“Norm Macdonald has a Show” will feature Norm’s trusty sidekick Adam Eget, and one celebrity guest per episode. According to Netflix’s description, it will consist of “great and unexpected conversation, jokes and a behind-the-scenes look at Norm’s world.”
Yeah, basically it’s the YouTube show with a bigger budget.
Friday’s news makes formal an announcement the comedian made in a Reddit AMA back in January. “I did my podcast [“Norm Macdonald Live”] in order to see if I could host a talk show,” he wrote. “And I think I succeeded and have now been offered a talk show by Netflix. All the podcasts were rehearsals.”
Macdonald and Eget have co-hosted “Norm Macdonald Live” on and off since 2013, with the most recent run of episodes airing last summer.
Macdonald will co-showrun and executive produce the new Netflix show with Lori Jo Hoekstra. KP Anderson and Daniel Kellison will also serve as executive producers. David Letterman — who has his own Netflix talk show — is a creative partner.
It is produced under Norm’s production banner, Anchor Spud Productions, along with Pygmy Wolf Productions in association with Lionsgate Television.
