Netflix has ordered a live action “Richie Rich” series produced by AwesomenessTV, TheWrap has learned exclusively.
The half-hour comedy series will consist of 21 episodes featuring the richest kid in the world, to be played by “Dark Skies” actor Jake Brennan, and will debut in early 2015 for Netflix members in the US, Canada and Latin America.

In this adaptation of the 1980s cartoon based on a comic from the 1950s, Richie has made a trillion dollars from inventing and selling a cool new green technology. After Richie moves into a decked out mansion and instantly starts living the most awesome life ever, the show will cover his adventures with his friends.
The series will also star Joshua Carlon, Jenna Ortega, Lauren Taylor, Kiff VandenHeuvel (“Star Trek Into Darkness”) and Brooke Wexler.
Co-founder and CEO of AwesomenessTV Brian Robbins, Tim Pollock and Jeff Hodsden will serve as executive producers. Pollock and Hodsden will also serve as “Richie Rich’s” showrunners. Their credits include Disney Channel’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,” “The Suite Life on Deck” and “A.N.T. Farm.”

A prolific TV, film and digital media producer, Robbins created “Smallville,” “Varsity Blues” and “All That,” among others.
Additionally, AwesomenessTV’s Shauna Phelan and Joe Davola will serve as executive producers on the series.
