Netflix released the first full trailer for its 10-part psychological thriller “Gypsy,” which sees Naomi Watts getting too involved in her patients’ lives.
Watts stars as Jean Holloway, a therapist who begins to develop dangerous and intimate relationships with those involved with her patients. Specifically, she develops something either romantic or sexual with Sydney (Sophie Cookson), who is connected with her patient Sam (Karl Glusman).
In the trailer, Holloway goes out to nightclubs, sneaking away from her husband Michael (Billy Crudup), who warns her against getting involved.
“You’re not getting emotionally involved again, are you?” he says, implying that something like this has happened before.
“I guess I feel like I’ve been living my life as two people. I don’t know which one is real,” Watts narrates as she descends more and more into confusion.
“She descends into a world where the forces of desire and reality are disastrously at odds for her and those around her,” Netflix says of the show.
Liza Chasin and Lisa Rubin are executive producing the series from Universal Television and Working Title. Rubin, who is a Hollywood newcomer, will also serve as the writer. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Andrew Stearn and Watts will also serve as executive producers.
