MTV has rounded out its cast for upcoming fantasy series “Shannara” with its final series regular role filled by “Pan’s Labyrinth” star Ivana Baquero.

Based on a series of Terry Brooks novels that began in 1977, the fantasy drama is set in our world, but thousands of years after the destruction of civilization. It’s centered on the Shannara family, whose descendants are empowered with ancient magic and whose adventures continuously reshape earth’s future.

Baquero will play Eretria. From the wrong side of the tracks, Eretria has been forced to use her beauty and wits to survive. She’s a human who has been raised in a den of thieves known as the Rovers. When she rescues Wil (Austin Butler) from danger, she becomes unwittingly tied to his and Amberle’s (Poppy Drayton) quest to save the Four Lands.

In addition to starring in 2006’s “Pan’s Labyrinth,” Baquero stars in the Spanish film “El Club de los Incomprendidos,” Portugal’s “Gelo,” and will next be seen in the Fox International film “My Other Me,” directed by Isabel Coixet. Ivana is 20 years old and based in Barcelona.

Aside from Butler and Drayton, Baquero also joins “Spartacus” actor Manu Bennett on “Shannara.”

Ordered straight to series by MTV in July, “Shannara’s” first two episodes will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), who also serves as an executive producer. Writers Al Gough and Miles Millar (“Smallville”) will executive produce, and Jon Favreau, Terry Brooks and Dan Farah will also executive produce. Sonar Entertainment is MTV’s producing partner and the international distributor.

Baquero is represented by Gersh and Think Tank Management.
