MTV is developing a comedy series executive produced by “Transparent” creator Jill Soloway with Lyle Friedman and Ashley Skidmore, the writers and stars of web series “#Hotmessmoves.”
The “Untitled Friedman, Skidmore Project” is about two young girls who meet at summer camp and bond over their passion for second-wave feminism. During a wild night in the forest, both girls are struck by lightning and their friendship, power and destiny is fatefully sealed. Ten years later, they romp around town hell-bent on saving all of womankind (if only they could save themselves first).
“Lyle and Ashley have a magical ability to tap into the female psyche, and through their own special brand of truth and humor they absolve us of our most humiliating moments,” said Soloway. “I’m so excited to godmother this show and bring Lyle and Ashley’s fresh take on lady power to MTV.”
Soloway, Robin Schwartz and Brillstein Entertainment Partners will executive produce and Lyle Friedman and Ashley Skidmore will serve as co-executive producers.
MTV’s senior vice president and Head of Scripted Series, Mina Lefevre, said, “We are thrilled to be in business with the incredibly talented Jill Solloway. When she and Brillstein Entertainment introduced us to Lyle and Ashley and shared with us this fresh and funny take on a female comedy, we knew we had to be in business with this dream team.”
Former members of New York improv group Upright Citizens Brigade, Skidmore and Friedman created the popular web series “#Hotmessmoves” and are currently staff writers on Darren Starr’s new TV Land series, “Younger.”
