Mike Pence Blasts Joy Behar for Comments on His Christianity: ‘I Just Couldn’t Be Silent’

“It’s evidence of how out of touch some in the mainstream media are,” vice president tells “Fox & Friends”

Mike Pence is taking Joy Behar to task after “The View” co-host mocked his religious faith during a recent show.

Speaking to “Fox & Friends” co-host Ainsley Earhardt from the Texas-Mexico border on Friday, the Vice President said the comment showed how out of touch Behar was with the American people.

“When I heard that ABC had a program that likened my Christianity to mental illness, I just couldn’t be silent. My Christian faith is probably the most important thing in my life,” said Pence. “To have ABC have a forum that spoke in such demeaning terms, I think it’s evidence of how out of touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people.”

The question suggests the popular Fox News morning show is still not prepared to move on Behar’s joke.

“It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” she said of Pence derisively. “Can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room?”

In a commentary last week, Earhardt suggested that the comment showed Behar didn’t “know Christ” and fellow ‘Fox & Friends’ co-host Brian Kilmeade speculated on set that she might be “Jewish.”
