Michael C. Hall will star in a thriller series titled “Safe,” which Netflix and France’s Canal+ are in final negotiations to produce, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Hall starred in Showtime’s “Dexter” from 2006 to 2013. In “Safe,” from veteran thriller author Harlan Coben, he will play a British pediatric surgeon raising two teenage daughters, Jenny and Carrie, after his wife passes away. The family live safely in a gated community but everything changes when one of the daughters sneaks out to a party and a murder and a disappearance follow.
Danny Brocklehurst (“Shameless”) wrote the script for the eight-part series, which is currently shooting in Manchester and Cheshire, United Kingdom. StudioCanal’s U.K.-based production company Red will produce the series. It would air on Canal+ in France and Netflix globally if the deals all close.
Coben’s first small-screen project was “The Five” for Sky in the U.K., which was also written by Brocklehurst, produced by Red and acquired by Canal+. He is represented by Aaron M. Priest Literary Agency.
Hall’s other credits include “Six Feet Under,” “Gamer” and “Paycheck.” He will next voice Leonard Swett in “The Gettysburg Address,” written and directed by Sean Conant. He is represented by UTA and Main Stage Public Relations.
