Marilyn Manson is standing by his longtime friend Johnny Depp.
Depp was unfairly “crucified” by the public during his thorny divorce from actress Amber Heard, Manson said in a recent interview with The Daily Beast.
“Johnny is one of the nicest people that I know — to the extent where it’s almost heartbreaking how kind he is to his friends, and everyone around him,” Manson said. “I know that he was completely crucified — unjustly.”
“I would stand by him on anything,” Manson continued. “As my friend, I know that he’s handling it the best he can and he’s a great Dad, too … Of course I think that all of it was bullshit, and I think that he is a great person. I wouldn’t agree with any of it if someone were to put me on the stand and ask me what I know, or what I’ve witnessed.”
Heard, who had been married to Depp for little more than a year, filed for divorce from the actor in May and days later filed for a restraining order, claiming that the actor had been abusive to her throughout their relationship.
The couple settled their divorce last month, a day before a hearing was to be held on the matter. Heard later said she’d donate her entire $7 million settlement to charity.
