Mariah Carey Announces Las Vegas Residency on ‘Ellen’ (Video)

Inspired by the singer’s “#1’s” CD from 1998, the show will feature 18 of her biggest hits

Mariah Carey dropped by “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday to make a big announcement. She’s just finalized a deal for a residency at The Colosseum at Ceasar’s Palace in Las Vegas. It will be the first ever residency show for the best-selling female artist in history.

“This is a special event for me,” Carey told DeGeneres. “I have to hope that the fans will enjoy this ’cause I’m gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by my album ‘#1’s,’ and this is now the updated version with 18 of them.”

DeGeneres and Carey then started going down the list of some of the songs Carey will be performing during her residency, including “We Belong Together,” “Vision of Love,” “Emotions,” “Dreamlover,” “Touch My Body,” “One Sweet Day,” “Don’t Forget About Us” and “Fantasy.”

Other number ones Carey has enjoyed throughout her long career include “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” “I Don’t Wanna Cry,” “I’ll Be There,” “Hero,” “Always Be My Baby,” “Honey,” “My All,” “Heartbreaker,” and “Thank God I Found You.”

She and DeGeneres also gifted the entire studio audience with pairs of tickets to Carey’s new residency at Caesar’s Palace. But that wasn’t the only place the women were surprising people. They had a video of Carey also dressed up like housekeeping at Caesar’s to surprise unsuspecting guests with tickets to her residency.
