Liam Payne is probably insecure right now and we definitely know what for: Maisie Williams just added the former One Direction member to her “Game of Thrones” character Arya Stark’s list of names. Right, the list of all the people she wants to kill.
“joffrey, cersei, liam payne, the hound,” Williams tweeted Friday, in a reference to the infamous running group of Westeros residents Arya wants to assassinate before the series ends.
While Joffrey is long dead, Cersei and The Hound are both still alive — and so is the British pop star. But, you know, Payne is an *actual person* and we have no idea what he could have possibly done to make it onto the list of those who have wronged the Stark girl.
“GoT” star Sophie Turner — who plays Williams’ on-screen sister, Sansa, and is her off-screen best friend — probably reacted the same way you did, tweeting back a simple, “Omg.”
OK, so the easiest way to figure out the mistake here — or the joke — is to look over the in-universe names that remain on Arya’s list which include Cersei Lannister, Sandor “The Hound” Clegane, Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane, Melisandre, Beric Dondarrion, and Ilyn Payne.
It’s that last one, the executioner responsible for the death of Arya’s father, Ned Stark (Sean Bean), at the end of Season 1 that is the closest we could possibly come to “Liam Payne” typo-wise. And you know, epic-joke-wise.
See their tweets below.
“Game of Thrones” Season 8 premieres Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.
