Does Latest ‘Infinity War’ Trailer Hint at an Avenger’s Death? (Video)

In step with WonderCon, Marvel’s crossover event points to demise of a hero

A freshly-cut trailer for Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” brings the latest hint that Hollywood’s most successful superheroes will suffer collateral damage in their upcoming movie.

In step with fan convention WonderCon this weekend, the Disney-owned studio released an updated clip for the crossover event that contains characters like Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and more.

Let’s start with the clip’s title: “Death of Vision.” That’s about as subtle as Bruce Banner’s alter ego.

Vision, of course, is a benevolent android played by Paul Bettany. The title doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence for his trajectory in the April 27 release. Josh Brolin’s mega-villain Thanos is after little gems called infinity stones, that united lock into some kind of fantastic Michael Jackson glove that has the power to, naturally, bring humanity to heel.

Fanboy blog Heroic Hollywood explains:

Vision’s death in ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ while not confirmed, doesn’t come as a shock to many. The reason Vision is alive is due to the mind stone in his head, which is one of the six infinity stones that Thanos wishes to obtain in the movie. Without the mind stone to give him life, death seems to be the only other option.

We can speculate, but what’s certain is that loss will certainly befall the powerful group.

“Within the first five minutes of ‘Infinity War’ people will understand why Thanos is the biggest and baddest villain in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said cryptically during Brazil Comic-Con in December.
