Kevin Hart is in talks to star as Santa Claus in Disney’s christmas comedy, “Dashing Through the Snow,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Will Packer, who has worked on the “Ride Along” films with Hart, will serve as producer along with John Jacobs (“Ted”).
“Dashing Through the Snow” will follow a New York City detective who has a bad relationship with his son. The only thing that can fix the relationship is the real Santa Claus.
The project, in development at Disney Live Action, is an original idea by Scott Rosenberg (“Con Air”), and will be written by Rob Burnett. The studio is on the search for a director.
Hart, one of the busiest actors in Hollywood, recently starred in “Kevin Hart: What Now?” ‘Ride Along 2″ and “Central Intelligence” alongside Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which earned over $126 million domestically. He also voiced a character in “The Secret Life of Pets.”
His upcoming projects include “Jumanji,” which will reunite him with Johnson. TheWrap recently reported exclusively that “Ride Along 3” is in development at Universal, with Ice Cube to return as well.
