Ken Bone made his late-night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday, once again endearing America with his soft spoken, self-deprecating style.
Kimmel asked Bone if he was still undecided between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in this year’s election. “Donald Trump is more in line with my economic interests, because I work in coal — electricity,” he replied.
“But I would really hate for anyone’s rights to get taken back,” he continued. “We fought so hard to get marriage equality and rights expanded to more Americans. It would unconscionable to me to see those rights taken away by a Supreme Court Justice appointed by Donald Trump.”
Kimmel also asked Bone about why he chose to wear his now-infamous red sweater to the presidential debate, and Bone said it was a last-minute choice after he found out the hard way he no longer fit into the suit his grandfather had helped him pick out.
“I thought, ‘Wow, grandpa would be so proud if I wore this suit,’” Bone said. “But apparently I have gotten somewhat more fat since then, and when I got into my car, I split the seat out of my pants and destroyed my olive suit and I had to do an emergency wardrobe change.”
Bone, who is a 34-year-old coal-plant operator from Illinois, according to the New York Times, became a viral sensation after he asked the candidates a question about energy policy at the town hall debate on Sunday.
While he asked a reasonable question about retaining energy jobs in the U.S. while upholding environmental standards, viewers online immediately seized on Bone’s appearance and pun-worthy name, with memes popping up almost immediately.
