Sony Pictures has purchased the comedy pitch “All the Way” from New York Times bestselling author Kelly Oxford and set it up with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg‘s Point Grey Pictures, TheWrap has learned.
“All the Way” is set in high school and described as a female-driven sex comedy, but plot details remain under wraps.
Oxford will write the script, while Rogen and Goldberg will produce with their Point Grey partner James Weaver. Point Grey executive Alex McAtee will oversee the project for the company.
Oxford is is considered social media royalty, having honed her voice as a writer on Twitter, where she currently boasts an impressive 615,000 followers. Her fans range from Jimmy Kimmel and John Mayer to Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody and the late Roger Ebert.
Harper Collins released Oxford’s first book of essays titled “Everything Perfect When You’re a Liar,” and not only has she written a pilot for NBC, but she has also sold a comedy script to Warner Bros.
Rogen, Goldberg and Weaver recently produced “The Interview” for Sony, which is also releasing Point Grey’s raunchy animated movie “Sausage Party” in 2016. Sony and Point Grey are currently in post-production on Jonathan Levine’s untitled Christmas Eve comedy starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anthony Mackie and Rogen, the latter of whom is currently filming Universal’s “Steve Jobs” movie with Michael Fassbender.
Rogen and Goldberg are represented by UTA and attorney Fred Toczek, while Rogen is also managed by Principal Entertainment LA.
Oxford (illustrated below, dropping the mic) made a cameo appearance in “Sharknado 2” and will soon pop up in Cameron Crowe’s Sony movie “Aloha.” She’s represented by WME and attorney Ken Richman.
